About DICGC

The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), established on July 15, 1978. It was formed by merging the erstwhile Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC) and the Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. (CGCI). DICGC's core mandate is to provide insurance cover to depositors of banks and guarantee credit facilities extended to small borrowers, thereby playing a pivotal role in ensuring financial stability across India. DICGC's primary function is to offer deposit insurance protection up to a limit of INR 5 lakhs to depositors of all commercial banks, regional rural banks, local area banks, and cooperative banks across India.
