The Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) , located in Avadi, Chennai, stands as a cornerstone of India's defence industrial complex. Established in 1961 and inaugurated in 1965, HVF was conceived to achieve self-reliance in the production of main battle tanks (MBTs) for the Indian Army. Over the decades, it has been instrumental in manufacturing and overhauling a wide array of formidable vehicles, including the T-72 'Ajeya', T-90 'Bhishma', and the indigenously developed Arjun MBT.
