About Khadi and Village Industries Commission

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body established by the Government of India, dedicated to planning, promotion, organization, and implementation of programs for the development of Khadi and village industries in the rural areas. Rooted in Mahatma Gandhi's vision for rural self-reliance and Swadeshi, KVIC plays a pivotal role in India's socio-economic development by providing employment opportunities, particularly to artisans and rural populations. Established by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956, KVIC operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME).
