Overview

The Indian Navy Agniveer (SSR/MR) examination is a nationwide competitive recruitment process conducted by the Indian Navy to select young, dynamic individuals for a four-year engagement as Agniveers. This initiative, part of the Agnipath scheme, aims to modernize the armed forces and provide youth with a unique opportunity to serve the nation. Candidates are recruited for two main categories: Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) for those with 10+2 qualification and Matric Recruit (MR) for 10th pass candidates. The selection process is rigorous, ensuring only the most suitable candidates are inducted into the naval service.

Vacancies for the Agniveer SSR/MR recruitment are announced periodically, typically twice a year, based on the operational requirements of the Indian Navy. The notification specifies the number of male and female Agniveers to be recruited, often including a provision for reservations as per government norms where applicable. Aspiring candidates are advised to regularly check the official Indian Navy website for the latest recruitment notifications and detailed information regarding specific vacancy counts.

Upon successful completion of the four-year tenure, Agniveers will be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Indian Navy, with up to 25% of each batch being selected based on merit, willingness, and organizational requirements. Those not selected for permanent service will receive a 'Seva Nidhi' package, including their contributions and accrued interest, along with skill-set certificates and priority in various central and state government jobs. This scheme not only offers a chance to serve but also provides valuable professional experience and financial support for future endeavors, contributing significantly to nation-building.
