The Staff Selection Commission has announced the online registration and exam months for SSC CHSL 2021 in the official notification. The detailed Notification PDF has been released on 01st February 2022 on the official website. The online application process for SSC CHSL 2021 exam has been started on 01st February 2022 and the last date to apply online for CHSL Exam 2021 is 07th March 2022. The Tier-I (CBE) will be held in May 2022.

SSC CHSL is a Combined Competition Exam that is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission to select Higher Secondary qualified students into various departments and offices of the government. SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2021

The SSC CHSL recruitment process involves three stages. The examination will consist of Computer Based Examination (Tier-I), Descriptive Paper (Tier-II), and Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-III). In the question papers, wherever necessary, the Metric systems of weights and measures will be used. The dates of examinations indicated in the notice are tentative. Any change in the schedule of examinations will be informed to candidates. There shall be no provision for re-evaluation/ re-checking in the examination. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.

The detailed Exam Pattern of Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III of SSC CHSL Recruitment are given in the table below. It is important for the candidates to know the detailed exam pattern so that they can prepare well for every section of the examination.

Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)

The Tier-I Examination will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill), and General Awareness sections. Please keep in mind, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. Tentative Answer Keys of the Computer Based Examination will be available after the Examination.

The total duration of Tier-I is 60 minutes for all candidates. However, this duration extends to 80 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe. After qualifying Tier-I of the SSC CHSL 2021 Examination. Candidates ought to appear for Tier II and Tier III. The exam pattern of SSC CHSL Tier-II and Tier III is explained below.

Tier II (Descriptive Paper)

Tier-II Paper will be a descriptive Paper of 100 Marks in Pen and Paper Mode. The Paper will comprise of writing Essay/ Letter/ Application/ Precis etc. The paper will have to be written either in Hindi or in English. Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will be awarded zero marks. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 percent. The duration of the Descriptive Paper will be for one hour (20 minutes compensatory time will also be provided to the candidates eligible for scribe).

Tier III (Skill Test/ Typing Test)

Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature. Errors in the Skill Test will be calculated up to 2 decimal places. Skill Test/ Typing Test for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted on the computers provided by the Commission or its authorized agency.

Document Verification (DV)

All the candidates qualified for Document Verification are required to appear for Document Verification along with the photocopies and original documents. Candidates will have to submit copies of various documents like Matriculation Certificate, educational qualification, caste certificate, relevant document, if any relaxation is taken, etc. Information about the required documents will be provided while calling candidates for DV.

SSC CHSL Eligibility

Candidates who have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University are eligible for this exam.

Descriptive Paper (Tier-II)
The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay/ Letter/ Application/ Precis etc. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The performance in Tier-II would be included for preparing merit. The best way to prepare for the same is to read lots of articles from various newspapers. Apart from this, you need to be well aware of the pattern of Letters and Applications.

Skill Test/ Typing Test (Tier-III)
Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature. The test will be conducted as per the following scheme:

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator:-
Skill Test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators. No candidate is exempted from appearing in the Skill Test. Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered in the Computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.

For the post of Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): The speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered in the Computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.

Typing Test for LDC/ JSA and Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant:-
The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi or English. The candidates will have to opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e. either Hindi or English) in the online Application Form. Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively. The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
