UPSC conducts Combined Medical Services Exam (CMS) Exam every year for the recruitment of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer, Assistant Medical Officer, Junior Scale Posts, General Duty Medical Officer, and General Duty Medical Gr-II in Railways, Indian Ordnance Factories, Central Health Services, and Delhi Municipal Corporation. There are two stages through which candidates have to go to qualify for the post. There is a reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWBD candidates.

UPSC CMS Selection Procedure

The UPSC CMS Exam Pattern and Selection Procedure is given below –

Part-I: Written Examination

The candidates will take the written examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration. There will be a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the objective type question papers. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.

Part-II: Personality Test

Personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the written examination.

UPSC CMS Exam Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply for UPSC CMS should ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria. To apply for CMS Exam, a candidate should have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS Exam.

UPSC CMS Exam Syllabus

The detailed syllabus of the UPSC CMS Exam is given below. Paper I comprises 120 questions out of which 96 are from General Medicine and 24 from Pediatrics. The topics that are covered in both subjects are given below.

Paper-II comprises 120 questions out of which 40 are from Surgery, 40 from Gynaecology & Obstetrics, and 40 from Preventive Social and Community Medicine. The topics that are covered in these subjects are given below.

The written examination in both the papers will be complete of objective (Multiple choice answers) type. The Question Papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.
